Military Women in Combat: make women register for selective service

US Defense Secretary Leon Panetta has lifted a 20-year military ban on women in combat. This opens up nearly 230,000 jobs to women, with most of them in the Army and Marine infantry units.

This has been blown up in the media as a landmark move to promote equality within the military ranks, but in reality it will not change much, women have been in combat years. After all, Tammy Duckworth didn't lose both her legs in a bar fight. Despite Panetta's decision, the military is not yet fully equal.
