A second dose of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon is coming your way. According to Deadline, a sequel to 2000's mind-blowing martial arts spectacular will begin shooting in May of this year...without Ang Lee. The Weinstein Company has another director in mind...Chinese filmmaker Ronny Yu. And although Ang Lee won't be helming this one, we should see at least one familiar Crouching Tiger character return.
This next film will pick up where Crouching Tiger left off and draws primarily from the Wang Du Lu book entitled Silver Vase, Iron Night. The story continues to follow the life of Yu Shu Lien, who was played by Michelle Yeoh in the original film. It's not clear whether Michelle will reprise her role but it appears likely she will...along with a few other Crouching Tiger co-stars.
The writer is John Fusco...who also penned Hidalgo and the Forbidden Kingdom....and he clued us in on what we can expect from the Crouching Tiger sequel that's over ten years in the making. Quote "This introduces a new generation of star-crossed lovers, and a new series of antagonists in a battle of good and evil."
But perhaps the best news of all...Fusco is expected to bring along Woo Ping Yuen, the legendary fight choreographer who brought us all the stunning, high wire action sequences in the original.
