Subway Sued For Footlong Sandwich Shrinkage

A consumer in the United States has filed a lawsuit against the popular Subway restaurant franchise at a local court, accusing the company on grounds of false advertising.


In the lawsuit filed Wednesday, Nguyen Buren from Chicago claimed that its "footlong" sandwich product measured only 11-inches long, in contrary to its 12 inches as advertised on menus.


Mr. Buren added in the complaint that it reflected a situation where a consumer was paying for a dozen eggs but only receiving eleven in return.


Elsewhere, several consumers from the New Jersey State, have already filed suits against the franchise, which is headquartered in Milford, Connecticut, with some of them looking to claim over five million US dollars.


Moreover, more than a week ago, teenager Matt Corby in Australia posted an image online revealing the footlong sandwich measured only 11 inches.


It has attracted more than 100,000 hits and people worldwide have shared their own photos of the under-sized sandwich.


Dissatisfied sandwich consumers and countless evidence have left the global sandwich franchise in admission of the problem.


The company responded Thursday that they would implement stricter controls and work harder to make sure their sandwich reach the length they promised through out the world.


According to an online statement reported by Chicago Tribune, the company said, "We have redoubled our efforts to ensure consistency and correct length in every sandwich we serve. Our commitment remains steadfast to ensure that every Subway Footlong sandwich is 12 inches at each location worldwide."


The verdict on the lawsuits is yet to be decided.
