Variety is reporting that David Fincher may be taking on a new project. Fincher, who has directed so many amazing adaptation films like Fight Club, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, and The Social Network, is now said to be working on a new adaptation thriller for Fox, called Gone Girl which is based on the novel by Gillian Flynn, which has, by the way, already sold around 2 million copies so far and spent eight weeks at Number 1 on the New York Times Bestseller List.
The thriller is full of suspense and focuses on the story of a woman who disappears on her fifth wedding anniversary. Reese Witherspoon is producing the project, which makes us wonder if she might also be thinking about starring in it was well.
Fincher is still attached to helm the Girl WIth The Dragon Tattoo sequel, The Girl Who Played With Fire, which will be penned by Steve Zaillian, and Finchers name is also still swimming around in Disney's 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea reboot. So while we wait for the wrinkles to be ironed out on these two big projects, perhaps Gone Girl will be a great project for Fincher to work on in his downtime, if there ever is such a thing for him.
So, I want to know if any of our subscribers out there have read Flynn's Gone Girl? And if so, do you think Fincher is the right man to helm the job?
