Afghan official: security forces more ready
  • 11 years ago
Speaking to Al Jazeera from Kabul, Sediq Sediqqi, Afghan interior ministry spokesman, cited a lack of casualties and the "slight" wounds of the Afghan police during Monday's attack on the Afghan capital's traffic department, as a sign that Afghan forces are increasingly capable.

"The Afghan forces today are ready, tomorrow they will be more ready ... We can really contain their damage and give them a quick response", something Sediqqi said, they were not able to do "some years ago".

Despite the so-called "ring of steel" that surrounds the Afghan capital, Sediqqi said the Afghan National Security Forces "do understand and accept that the attackers are still able to bring explosives inside the cities and provinces", but that the ANSF is set to invest in the prevention of such transport in the future.
