Calling an emergency hotline for petty reasons is no joke.

A 67-year-old granny from Queensland, Australia recently landed in court for excessively calling the national emergency call line, triple-zero.

In five years time, the woman dialed the ambulance service nearly 1,000 times, causing taxpayers to shell out roughly $1 million. Then last year, she called triple-zero over 300 times. One particular day, she phoned 10 times.

Although she received several warnings telling her to stop misusing the system, she never ceased. The elderly woman was found guilty of 302 charges and the court banned her from telephoning triple-zero. She was placed on probation for two years.

Last year, another person abused an emergency line. According to the police report, a Florida man who wanted 'sexual gratification' decided to call 911 repeatedly and request that female deputies be sent to his home.

He called between August 22nd and 24th. In total, the operators received his call 7 times.
