The infamous same name couple is divorcing.
An extraordinary couple recently began divorce proceedings following a media frenzy of their courtship.
It all began in several years ago, when the future wife named Kelly Hildebrandt, from Florida contacted her soon-to be-husband on Facebook who was also named Kelly Hildebrandt.
Female Kelly messaged male Kelly on the social media site to point out their shared name.
They continued to communicate online and met in person several weeks later. They soon got engaged. The media cast the adorable pair into the spotlight and they appeared on several TV shows to share their unusual tale of love.
Last year, the couple filed for divorce citing irreconcilable differences and the case is still pending.
The husband stated “We gave it our best shot. We really did come from pretty different worlds.”
In 2012, another infamous couple began the divorce process. Thomas Beatie was born as a woman, but he had his gender legally changed to male in Hawaii prior to marrying wife Nancy in 2003.
