It's awards season folks, and we have your 70th Annual Golden Globes special recap here at ClevverMovies. There were many fantastic moments this, a few tears shed, lots of cocktails, and many great laughs thanks to hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. And there weren't too many surprises this year, as no one film really dominated over the rest but Les Miserables did take home the most Globes with Anne Hathaway winning as Best Supporting Actress in a Musical or Comedy, as well as Hugh Jackman taking home the award for best actor in a Musical or Comedy. Also the film took home Best Musical Comedy beating out Silver Linings Playbook, Moonrise Kingdom, Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, and Salmon Fishing in the Yemen. If you are looking for surprises, perhaps Quentin Tarantino's win for best screenplay will be that for you, as it was admitidly a surprise to him, who beat out heavy script contenders like Lincoln and Argo. However, speaking of Argo, Ben Affleck may have had one of the best nights of his career, bringing home the win for Best Motion Picture Drama as well as the win for Best Director, even in the aftershocks of being snubbed for an Oscar nomination for Best Director for the film. Skyfall fans will be happy to know that the film didn't go home empty handed with Adele and Paul Epworth winning a Golden Globe for Best Original Song in a Motion Picture with the title track, Skyfall. And Brave fans will be pleased by it's globe win for Best Animated Feature. Lincoln did not dominate this year as many had hoped it would and despite being nominated for 7 awards, only Daniel Day-Lewis brought the team to a win for his role as Lincoln as best Actor in a Motion Picture Drama. And other notable wins were those of Zero Dark Thirty's Jessica Chastain, who took home the globe for Best Actress in a Motion Picture Drama as well as Jennifer Lawrence who won Best Actress in a Motion Picture Musical or Comedy for her role in Silver Linings Playbook. So, we are getting extremely excited about this years awards season, watching the cream rise to the top, or does it? Did you have any major Golden Globe upsets?
