With the enormous success of The Avengers this past summer, director Joss Whedon has become the go-to guy for all things Marvel and he's giving us a little taste of what we can expect from the upcoming Phase Two. MTV caught up with the Marvel Studios creative consultant and asked him about the status of The Avengers 2. Whedon explained that he has written an outline and is in the process of writing the script, which he says will be completed in a couple months. As for how he plans to approach the film, Whedon says he isn't going to try to go bigger, but deeper into who the characters are and how they relate to each other. Something that won't necessarily be a pleasant experience. In addition to writing and directing The Avengers 2, Whedon is also hard at work preparing to bring the Marvel universe to the small screen with his S.H.I.E.L.D. television series, which will feature the return of fan favorite Clark Gregg as Agent Phil Coulson. Plans are for the pilot to begin filming next week for a possible Fall 2013 debut. He promises the show to be bigger than your average cop show, but ultimately it will be about the people involved saying quote "The whole point of the show is that even with all these big things, the little things matter. It's about people who don't have super powers. There will be some people with powers, there will be FX, and there will be the spectacle of science-fiction storytelling — but all played on a very human, small level. That's the appeal of the thing." Despite the anticipation of the series, ABC president Paul Lee revealed that there is no guarantee the show will make it to series, but they are hopeful and very excited about its prospects. So much so that Whedon is already working on additional scripts for the series. And with Phase Two of the Marvel Cinematic Universe beginning this summer with the release of Iron Man 3, Whedon was asked about his involvement with the other films which he revealed included reading all the scripts, giving notes, looking at cuts of the films and talking to directors when they want to. He said his job is to try to be useful without being intrusive. One film he will most likely have a great deal of involvement with is Guardians of the Galaxy, whose storyline is rumored to be a lead-in to The Avengers 2. Screen Daily reports that the intergalactic film will begin shooting this summer in London in the same studio that was recently home to Thor: The Dark World production.
