At least 57 injured as ferry crashes Manhattan pier

At least 57 people are injured when a commuter ferry crashes into a pier near Wall Street Wednesday morning.

The ferry called Seastreak Wall Street had departed from Atlantic Highlands, New Jersey.

Emergency responders rushed to the scene.

(SOUNDBITE) (English) PASSENGER ON BOAT SAYING:

"It was a complete sudden shock. It was a shocking thing to happen. I've ridden the boat more than 100 time sand obviously nothing like this ever happened. "

Police say at least two people were critically injured in the crash.

Investigators are still looking into the cause of the accident.

In 2003, a Staten Island ferry crashed into a maintenance pier, killing 11 people and injuring dozens more. The same vessel, was involved in a second accident in May 2010 that injured around 40 people.
