Sherpa Adventure Gear Himal Softshell Pants [Review]

I don't think I've ever fallen in love with a product as quickly as I have the Himal Pant by Sherpa Adventure Gear. Many of the products are made in Nepal and all are tested on some of the world's finest athletes at altitudes greater than anything you'll find in the United States. I had no worries about these pants working in zero degree fahrenheit ice climbs.

Softshell doesn't get all the way to waterproof, but it comes close. Unless you're climbing a waterfall that's running water (a really bad decision, by the way) these pants are likely all you need. They're wind repellent and offer a lot more warmth than you'd think. Even when the temperature dipped I was able to get by with just a pair of thick, full length long underwear underneath the pants.

The fit is great, allowing you to layer without becoming overly bulky; a necessity in ice climbing.

In this video I even bring them skiing to see how they hold up on the slopes. They don't fit over my boots, but they fit just fine over my plastics and even better over my leather climbing boots.
