In the early years of instability following the Mexican War of Independence, the Yaqui Indian idol Don del Oro has seemingly appeared from the spirit world to incite a Yaqui uprising. Pretending to champion Yaqui freedom, Don del Oro actually serves the cause of a small group of high ranking officials who plan to replace Mexican President Benito Juarez with a dictator. When a new nobleman is placed on their governing council, the traitors are relieved to learn that he is the foppish Don Diego Vega, from whom they expect no opposition. They have no idea that Diego is secretly the dashing Zorro, who has dedicated his life to avenge the helpless, to punish cruel politicians, and to aid the oppressed! To defeat the power of Don Del Oro, however, Zorro will need the aid of a band of brave men who have pledged to defend their country.
