We are about jump head first into one of the most exciting times of the year in film, and that's awards season! This morning the WGA announced it's nominations for theatrical motion pictures in three categories: Adapted Screenplay, Original Screenplay, and Documentary Screenplay. The Writers Guild Awards honors work in film, tv, and even video games and graphic animation. Now, to have a WGA nod, you have to follow by their own specific restrictions that seem to be a bit more particular as many of the bigger movies we have heard so much about this year, including Django Unchained and Les Miz didn't make their cut. But, I do think all of you Looper fans out there will be very happy to know that it DID however make the WGA cut for a nomination for it's original screenplay. With other popular names vying for the win like Flight, Zero Dark Thirty, Moonrise Kingdom, and The Master. For adapted screenplay, there are again several familiar blockbuster names including Argo, Life of Pi, Lincoln, The Perks of Being a Wall Flower, as well as Silver Linings Playbook. The winners of these WGA categories will be announced on February 17th at the Writers Guild Awards in simultaneous ceremonies both in LA and NY and we will see how some of our favorites fair! Do you all think that Looper has what it takes to take home a win for original screenplay? And do you have any other favorites on the nominations list?
