It''s no new news that Bond is back, and in a big way, and how can we say that with so much conviction? Well, of course Skyfall was one of the biggest movies of the year being the first Bond film to ever make a billion bucks at the box office AND the franchise it's now celebrating it's 50th anniversary. And it keeps getting better because we just got word that the 85th annual Academy Awards will have a tribue to the Bond movie franchise at this years awards ceremony on February 24th on ABC. The producers of the tribute Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, who have also produced several critically acclaimed and award winning feature films, tv movies, and Broadway productions, seemed to be thrilled about the tribute saying quote "We are very happy to include a special sequence on our show saluting the Bond films on their 50th birthday. Starting with "Dr.No" back in 1962, the 007 movies have become the longest running motion picture franchise in history and a beloved global phenomenon." Even though the franchise has done extremely well over the decades, no Bond film has ever been nominated for a Best Picture Oscar. However, with Skyfall being nominated for a Producer's Guild of America award this year, we can't help but wonder if the outlook for a best picture nod is possible. Hopefully the answer is yes, and thankfully we won't have to wait too much longer as the 85th Academy Awards nominations will be announced live on Thursday, January 10th, at 5:30 am pacific. Calling all Bond fans, are you excited to see what the future holds for the Bond franchise? Do you think that Skyfall could get that coveted Best Picture nod? Start the convo going down below, and tweet us over on twitter at ClevverMovies. We love to hear from you there as well! From our studio in Hollywood, Im Erin White.
