Ranch Feeds Cows Beer for Premium Meat Cuts

A ranch feeds cows beer for premium Kobe cuts.

Have you ever wondered what makes the same cuts of meat taste different? Well, apparently different ranches use their own special methods - take the case of Texas T Kobe ranch in Wallis.

The cattle ranch swears that beer gives their cuts a signature, juicer taste. The business partnered with a nearby establishment, Saint Arnold Brewing Company. The ranch pours the beer in the hay that the cows eat.

The ranch specializes in hormone free Kobe-style beef, which is known as one of the most expensive types of beef, costing approximately $100 per pound. Apparently, the yeast in the beer assists in the cows’ digestion process which improves the texture and taste of the meat. The ranch owner claims that the cows prefer the beer flavored feed over regular hay without alcohol.

Earlier this year, Cow farmers in France were trying to rear the best beef producing cattle in the world by serving them up to two bottles of wine a day each. The cost of serving the bovines two bottles of fancy wine a day made the price of a 1 kilogram cut go up to about 120 dollars.
