Ostrich Pillow Puts New Spin On The Power Nap

In the office and on the road, the Ostrich pillow offers busy people the chance to snooze "anywhere, any time."
For those who have difficulty finding enough time to rest, Madrid based Banana Studio has created a curious pillow with four holes - one for the head, one for the mouth and two for the hands - so anyone using it can disconnect while waiting for planes in an airport or when there is a rare moment of down time in the office.
"Immediately we realized that many people from different sectors want it: firemen, students, doctors who sleep in hospitals, people who travel a lot and spend a lot of time in airplanes, people who study a lot in libraries. So, suddenly we realized that many people need it, not just a very small niche but many people need it and this is interesting because it is when you start saying this is a product that people need at a global level," says Ali Ganjavian, one of the designers of the ostrich pillow.
The aim of the ostrich pillow is to satisfy the requirements of a large proportion of people who do not have the time to sleep properly in one go.
"We spend more and more time working in front of the computer, travelling and the more time we spend working and traveling, the less time we have to sleep and there is an interesting piece of information that says that, when Thomas Edison invented the light bulb, we used to sleep a average of 10 hours but now we sleep an average of seven to six hours depending which part of the world we are in so, the idea is to be able to spread your sleep," the designer, Ali Ganjavian adds.
Banana Studio hopes the hand-made Ostrich pillow will fill a gap in the market.
