Final Print Issue of Newsweek Released

5 years ago19 views

Newsweek's final print magazine has been released with a cover bearing the headline: "#LastPrintIssue" -- a hashtag alluding to its all-digital future.

The departure from its hard-copy publication bids farewell to 80 years of printed magazines.

All future issues will be available digitally only and the first online issue will be on sale on January 4th.

On the final printed copy is a black-and-white image of Newsweek's iconic former offices in New York City and inside is a nine-page article paying homage to the publication's former staffers and articles.

Newsweek announced in October that it planned to halt its print publication and merge with the Daily Beast -- the online network run by editor Tina Brown.

Brown tweeted an announcement of the final print issue's cover, accompanied by two simple phrases: "Bitter sweet!" and "Wish Us Luck!"

First published in 1933, Newsweek became the second largest weekly news magazine in the United States, after Time magazine.
