SMOKEY ROBINSON HONORED WITH UNIQUE WORK OF ART
(Long Beach, CA) --Latimore Design Studios) announced this week that a unique piece of art will be unveiled on November 19th 2011 to honor Motown great William "Smokey" Robinson, Jr. The artist, CJ Latimore, uses a distinctive technique to create unforgettable, personalized tribute pieces.
Robinson is best known for his six gold records with Motown group the Miracles. Favorite hits include The Tracks of My Tears, You've Really Got a Hold on Me, I Second That Emotion, Ooo Baby Baby, and Tears of a Clown.
CJ Latimore created the ChromaArt process in 1998 to address the lack of options for meaningful recognition of life achievements. His personal approach includes honorees in the creation of the tribute work. This newest addition to the collection recognizes Robinson's achievements as told to Latimore by Robinson himself. The artist interviewed Robinson, as he does with all subjects, to ensure that the career highlights and major milestones selected for inclusion are those that honorees value most.
Robinson was an integral part of this piece's development, responsible for sharing the photo selection decisions. Once Robinson provided the photos he considered most important to his story, the artist returned to the studio to create the artwork. The ChromaArt technique involves photomontage through digital manipulation of selected honoree photos, which are then fused into a beveled acrylic sheet with a custom frame. Each piece's one-of-a-kind nature reflects the one-of-a-kind contributions of the individual recognized.
One proud subject of a Latimore piece had this to say about his finished artwork: "The... Award created by artist CJ Latimore was unique in that it is visually so personal and was lovely presented. The cherished art piece is prominently displayed." - Former Mayor Beverly O'Neill, Long Beach, California
