UN-Arab League peace envoy Lakhdar Brahimi has held talks with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in the capital Damascus.
Brahimi said they discussed the general conditions in Syria, and the potential solutions to a 21-month long crisis.
Assad described their meeting on Monday as "friendly and constructive".
The meeting was Brahimi's third with Assad. The envoy is expected to meet with Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Moallem on Tuesday.h
As the domestic conflict drags on, the Syrian government has vowed to strike hard at armed rebels and foreign aggressors.
