China has opened the world's longest high-speed railway to great fanfare, cutting travel times in half between Beijing and Guangzhu. At nearly 2300 kilometres long, it reduces the journey to under 10 hours, and is a major boost for the industry following a 2011 crash that cooled high-speed rail investment.
