'Rain Man' Car Fetches Huge Sum at Auction

If you are a fan of the classic movie, Rain Man, then you surely remember the cars from the movie.

Two gorgeous 1949 Buick Roadmaster convertible cars made an appearance in the film and one of them recently became a signature find at Heritage Auctions. The car was expected to sell for more than $80,000 and when the auction block rolled around on December 14th, an eager buyer paid a whopping $170,500.

An auction official states “The plot of the movie essentially revolves around this beautiful vehicle.” The buyer is said to be an anonymous collector. The two-door, automatic convertible features a red leather interior and beige exterior paint.

Earlier this year, another signature film piece made it to the auction block. The piano seen during the 'Flashback' scene in Casablanca was expected to land between $800,000 and $1.2 million at a Sotheby's auction in New York City.
The 58-key upright instrument landed a hefty price, but not quite what auction officials were hoping for, as it sold for $602,500 to an anonymous buyer.
