First Fairy Tale Written By Hans Christian Andersen Found In Denmark

What is thought to be Danish author Hans Christian Andersen's first ever fairy tale has been found at the National Archives in Denmark.
Denmark's leading H.C. Andersen expert said there was in no doubt the work was the earliest story by the author of famous fairy tales such as "The Ugly Duckling", "The Little Mermaid" and "Thumbelina".
The story - The Tallow Candle - was about a candle who felt neglected.
The story was dedicated to a woman who lived above H.C. Andersen's childhood home and was an important figure in his childhood.
The story was written before Andersen's debut as a writer.
H.C. Anderson experts believe the story was probably written some time in the period between 1819 and 1825.
Andersen died a celebrated writer in Copenhagen in 1875.
