Paul Campbell is an expert on corporate entrepreneurship and innovation. He is a consultant to Global 500 companies both striving to unlock value inside existing organizations and searching for innovation partnerships amongst Silicon Valley’s extensive network of startups, VC’s and corporate technology centers. Paul shares his expertise as a lecturer or professor at the UC-Berkeley Haas School of Business and other universities in Silicon Valley and Europe where he now lives.
Paul is Senior VP at Philips Group Innovation where he is responsible for creating innovative €1B+ growth businesses. By applying his unique methodologies and experience, Paul has quickly made a big impact by modifying Philips’ approach to innovation to generate outstanding initial results. One of Paul’s businesses recently accelerated by over a year the market introduction of an innovative medical product by completely revamping the company’s traditional product management approach. Another business is growing 60+% per year because Paul created the right entrepreneurial leadership environment which enabled the team to excel.
Paul began building businesses at a young age. He started at age 10 when he ran two franchises and two businesses and has been building businesses ever since. Paul developed his corporate entrepreneurial expertise while successfully creating and building numerous businesses that generated billions in revenue for Hewlett-Packard, the world’s largest information technology company and for entertainment technology startups. His HP startups span a broad range of technologies and markets, including new product categories, new segments, new services, new geographies, and new business models. One of Paul’s recent startups developed a stunning portfolio of award-winning products that raised the company’s image as an innovation and design leader. Another startup won ‘Product of the Year” award with its first product.
After leaving HP, Paul founded two organizations, Start-Up Genie and SVIE, with the belief that innovating new businesses inside established companies requires a unique confluence of leadership, structure, and inspiration. Start-Up Genie, LLC, is a consulting company dedicated to the development of incubation and entrepreneurial programs for large and medium-sized organizations. The Silicon Valley Innovation Executives group (SVIE) is a non-profit organization focused on the development of corporate entrepreneur and innovation skills through a network of peer practitioners.
Paul lectures at UC-Berkeley, USF and Stanford on the leadership practices, processes and organizational structures necessary for large companies to inject both sustaining and disruptive innovations into their products and services through structured, yet flexible programs. Paul augments his personal journey with global research to create models for innovation that can be applied to any corporate environment and yield dramatic results.
