According to a new statistic from WaterAid, an nongovernmental organisation, more than 50 million people are directly bearing the brunt of lack of clean water and sanitation.

Access to government-provided sanitation has dropped from 37% in 1990 to 31% today in the country causing the spread of diseases and poverty.

Al Jazeera's Yvonne Ndege reports from Lagos, Nigeria.
