Ryan Leslie Forced to Pay $1 Million for Found Laptop

A well-known music mogul is forced to pay $1 million reward for a stolen laptop, following a court battle.

If you offer a reward for a missing item, definitely expect to shell out the cash. Music producer, Ryan Leslie found that out the hard way.

It began in late 2010, when Leslie’s laptop was stolen while he was in Germany. Apparently the computer contained some music recordings so he released a YouTube video offering a $20,000 reward for the safe return. He later increased that amount to a whopping $1,000,000.

The owner of an auto shop found the laptop later, however when he returned it to Leslie, he was not given the promised reward. The dispute led to a recent court battle and the well-known music producer was ordered by jury to shell out the $1 million.

According to Leslie, there was a stipulation to the reward, as he was supposed to recover unreleased songs which were stored on the hard drive. Leslie alleges that the data was not there when the laptop was returned.

Although Leslie’s lawyers implied that the auto shop owner was involved in the theft during court proceedings, the music mogul took the verdict in stride tweeting “Ain’t no way to get around ups & downs. Jury of my peers rules for the plaintiff.”
