Britain's Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are expecting a baby, but Kate Middleton is in hospital with acute morning sickness.
Prince William and his wife Catherine are having their first child, the St. James's Palace announced on Monday.
According to the statement, "members of families are delighted with the news."
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were married in April last year, and gossip magazines have been speculating on a Kate Middleton's possible pregnancy since then.
The Palace also reported that Catherine was admitted to King Edward VII Hospital in Central London with Hyperemesis Gravidarum, or very acute morning sickness. She is expected to stay there for a few days.
She looked fine last week while playing field hockey in high heels while visiting St Andrew's School, her old prep school, where she was a captain.
The Royal Couple also visited Cambridge, where Prince William was gifted a babygrow outfit by a well-wisher.
William is the second in line to the British throne after Prince Charles and the couple's first child would become third. Commonwealth leaders have agreed to change in succession laws so that daughters will have an equal right to the throne as a son; while the law has not been changed yet, it is in the final stages of consent.
