Britney Spears Madonna

Depuis toute petite, Britney sait qu'elle sera chanteuse. Soutenue par ses parents, Jamie et Lynne Spears, elle passera à 8 ans une audition pour animer le Mickey Mouse Club, mais elle sera refusée car trop jeune. Cependant, un des producteurs de l'émission la remarque et la recommande à un agent de New York. Elle passe alors ses étés suivants à New York afin de suivre des cours de danse et de comédie. Idée lumineuse puisqu'en 1991, après avoir remporté de nombreux concours de chants, elle réussit à décrocher un rôle dans un spectacle de Broadway. La même année, sa petite sœur Jamie Lynn Spears vient au monde. À 11 ans, elle présente le Mickey Mouse Club avec entre autres Christina Aguilera et Justin Timberlake. Puis, elle enregistre une maquette qu'elle enverra à un grand nombre de maisons de disques. Elle auditionne pour Jive Records qui la prend immédiatement sous contrat. C'est à ce moment que Britney Jean Spears devient Britney Spears.

En novembre 2003, elle sort un nouvel album, In The Zone. Sa musique est désormais beaucoup plus sensuelle mais aussi « personnelle » (la chanteuse a écrit ou co-écrit plusieurs titres). Le premier single, Me Against The Music est en collaboration avec son idole de toujours, Madonna. Sa présence ne permettra cependant pas au titre d'avoir le succès escompté au États-Unis. Malgré tout, la chanson parvient à aller au sommet dans plusieurs pays dans le monde. C'est avec le hit international Toxic que les ventes de l'album décollent. Britney tient ensuite à sortir le single Everytime, première chanson écrite et composée par la chanteuse, qui sera également un succès international. Elle entame ensuite une tournée mondiale, The Onyx Hotel Tour, concert qui s'annonce très osé et destiné à un public plus adulte. Malheureusement, une blessure au genou (lors du tournage du clip pour Outrageous (écrit par R. Kelly)) la force à annuler la fin de la tournée. Après une promotion écourtée due à son hospitalisation, l'album réussit tout de même à se vendre à plus de 8 millions d'exemplaires. Notons aussi le scandale de son baiser avec Madonna et Christina Aguilera, lors des MTV Music Awards.
