The release of the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 ushers in a new class of enthusiast GPU. The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 GPU is based on the new 28nm "Kepler" architecture, which sports the next generation Streaming Multiprocessor (SMX), containing a massive 1536 CUDA core count. While designed to be powerful, the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 is also very efficient, requiring only two additional 6-pin power connectors, compared to the previous generation GTX 580, as well as AMD's latest HD 7970 video card, which requires extra 6-pin and an 8-pin PCI-E power connectors. Unlike the previous generation Fermi video cards, the GTX 680 is capable of driving a 3-way 3D Vision surround multi-monitor gaming setup on a single card with a 4th additional display capability for keeping a web browser open or chat program open.
