Christopher McQuarrie's next directing gig might be MI:5 as Paramount starts to form the team that will helm the 5th installment of Mission Impossible.
MI:5 is a big priority to the studio, since Ghost Protocol grossed 700-million worldwide. Although Ghost Protocol was directed by Brad Bird, McQuarrie has emerged as a director on Paramount's radar for MI:5 for various reasons, according to Deadline. McQuarrie has worked closely with Tom Cruise on various projects as a writer. After collaborating together on Valkyrie, McQuarrie has also worked with Cruise on All You Need Is Kill, Ghost Protocol, and the Top Gun sequel which we told you is currently on hold as the studio decides how to move forward.
McQuarrie also directed Tom Cruise in Jack Reacher, which is set for release on December 21st.
Although the studio has not made any announcements yet, we can expect to hear more on who'll officially direct MI:5 after writers are attached to the project.
