Palestinians prepare for Arafat exhumation

Debate continues to surround the death of the late Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat.

In preparation for the exhumation of his body, Palestinian security cordoned off his grave in Ramallah Tuesday.

A team of French and Swiss forensic experts is expected to begin its investigation later this month.

He is seen here two weeks before he died in November 2004 in France while being treated for an undisclosed condition.

Questions and conspiracy theories surrounding his death resurfaced after an Al Jazeera documentary suggested his sudden illness was due to a radioactive poison.

A Swiss Institute said in July it had discovered high levels of polonium-210 on clothing supplied by his widow, who called for the exhumation.

A champion of Palestinian liberation from Israel, Arafat won the 1994 Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts to end violence between the two.
