Taylor Swift picks up three gongs at MTV Europe awards as best video goes to "Gangnam Style"

A horse-riding dance took over the circus that was the MTV Europe Music Awards on Sunday (November 11) in Frankfurt.

South Korean superstar Psy brought the house down with "Gangnam Style" and took home Best Video for the addictive hit.

SOUNDBITE South Korean rapper and winner of Best Video, Psy, saying (English):

"I'd like to thank each and everyone all around the world who's supporting Psy, who's supporting 'Gangnam Style', who's supporting my video. I thank you so much and all the great support from Korea."

Country-pop sensation Taylor Swift had a triumphant evening, picking up three gongs for Best Female, Best Live and Best Look.

SOUNDBITE American singer and winner of Best Female, Best Live and Best Look, saying (English/German):

"(in German) Three? Thank you. (in English) I'm so excited. I can't believe you gave me three awards tonight at the EMAs. And for best look -- I'm kind of insecure in general, so this is good for my self confidence. Thank you for doing that."

Justin Bieber was absent from the event but scooped up Best Male for the second year in a row, along with Best Pop and Best World Stage.

Best Song went to Carly Rae Jepsen for "Call Me Maybe", who also picked up Best Push recognising up-and-coming talents.

Chinese artist Han Geng beat out Rihanna in the category of Best Worldwide Act.

Host Heidi Klum dazzled the crowd with eye-catching outfits throughout the show, as artists took to the stage at one of the world's biggest nights in pop music.
