Senior members of the Co-ordination Committee of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) Mr Mustafa Azizabadi, Mr Muhammad Ashfaq and Mr Qasim Ali Raza have denounced the statement by Qaumi Watan Party’s chairman Aftab Ahmed Sherpao that there were no Taliban in Karachi.
In a joint statement, the members of the Co-ordination Committee said that Mr Sherpao was trying to delude the people of Karachi and the entire nation by saying that Taliban were no present in Karachi. They said that the world knew as to who the elements were involved in attacks on defence installations, terrorism, violence, bloodshed and kidnappings for ransom in Karachi.
Referring to the suicide blast at the Sachchal Rangers Headquarters in Karachi, they asked Mr Sherpao if his own party had carried out the deadly blast if Taliban were not involved in it. They further asked if it should be assumed that all the murderous attacks on Mr Sherpao were self-arranged charades in order to get cheap publicity and deceive the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The MQM leaders said that the Supreme Court of Pakistan had clearly mentioned the presence of Taliban in its order in the Karachi Lawlessness Case and called for action against them. They said that the statement by Mr Sherpao was nothing but a futile attempt to mislead the entire nation.
