2. foolishness - the quality of being rash and foolish

The bible says in Proverbs 22:15 that Foolishness [is] bound in the heart of a child; [but] the rod of correction shall drive it far from him.

The word of God tells me that this is BOUND in the heart of a child and what to do to drive it out.( Sadly, most of us adults did not have to driven out as children.- but that's a entire different post.)

Foolishness also occurs 19 more times in the bible.

Here is Psalms 69:5 O God, thou know est my foolishness; and my sins are not hid from thee.

Proverbs 15:2 says:
The tongue of the wise useth knowledge aright: but the mouth of fools poureth out foolishness.

Here the bible tell us that just a LITTLE folly causes one commonly respected for wisdom and honor to be defiled : Dead flies cause the ointment of the apothecary to send forth a stinking savour: so doth a little folly him that is in reputation for wisdom and honour.

Proverbs 14:7 Go from the presence of a foolish man, when thou perceivest not in him the lips of knowledge.

So, now that we know what foolishness is..my next question is what makes us act this way?

Is it because we want attention? Therefore the louder and funnier we are the more people notice us??

Is it because t.v and movies make us think this is what is funny?

Is it because we have not sought wisdom which causes us to act and talk without thinking?

I am pondering all these things..in hopes to teach myself and my children to seek wisdom.

So now I ask the question, if we are not to act foolish how then should we act?

The older women are to teach the younger women to be, Discreet :Possessed of discernment, especially in avoiding error or evil, and in the adaptation of means to ends; prudent; sagacious; judicious; not rash or heedless; cautious.

(Yes, this is about women..but I think it would do everyone good to gain a little discretion about them..I hear people talk about things openly that use to be unheard of..bathroom business, bedroom business..it's all casual conversation.)

Proverbs 2 :11 says that Discretion will protect you and understanding will guard you.

The elder men be grave and temperate..Titus 2:2-6

Sober: temperate..serious..solem

Meek: patient, long-suffering, or submissive in disposition or nature; humble

2. spineless or spiritless; compliant

3. an obsolete word for gentle
(meekness is a character trait I am working on big time)
