We have the unfortunate job of informing you The Civil Wars is over. Welcome back to ClevverMusic. This is one war we wish was not done. Folk duo, The Civil Wars, has made public their official disbandment today on their official website. You know this Grammy-winning duo from their "The Hunger Games" soundtrack song with Taylor Swift, "Safe & Sound" among other hits.
The group has officially cancelled their current European Tour as well as next year's trip to Australia and New Zealand. The official announcement in bold white letters on a stark black page read, "We sincerely apologize for the canceling of all of our tour dates. It is something we deeply regret. However, due to internal discord and irreconcilable differences of ambitions are unable to continue as a touring entity at this time." Sounds like a serious break up here. The band members Joy Williams and John Paul White met at a song writing session in Nashville in 2008 and now sounds like something has gone terribly wrong. The band has not revealed what specifically has torn them apart except "differences of ambition".
In a generous "P.S." on their break up letter the duo offer to refund any fans for non-refundable travel reservations or service charges they incurred. You can email info@thecivilwars.com your scanned receipt and they will do their best to get you your money back. No mention of ticket sale reimbursements, however.
The Civil Wars album "Barton Hollow" was named "Best Folk Album" at the Grammys this year. So naturally, were saddened and shocked to hear this sad news. While the duo did not confirm their break up, it seems highly likely they will never ever be getting back together after this one. What is your reaction to their break up? Leave us a comment.
