Old English Sheepdogs are drastically declining in number.

While we typically hear of wild animals as being endangered, that discussion rarely focuses on dogs.

Recently, Old English Sheepdogs were added to the list of dogs that had a low number of registered puppies this year in the United Kingdom.

Only 316 Old English Sheepdog puppies have been registered, compared with over 28 thousand Labrador Retrievers which are the breed of dog with the highest number of registrations.

The popularity of Chihuahuas, Siberian Huskies, and Pugs has also risen, with their registration numbers in the thousands.

Bill Lambert, manager of the Kennel Club Assured Breeder Scheme told the BBC : “Of particular concern is the growth in popularity of the Siberian Husky, a beautiful dog which is notoriously willful and generally unsuitable for urban life."

Thirty other breeds were deemed vulnerable like the Skye Terrier, the Cesky Terrier, and the Field Spaniel, each with less than fifty registered puppies this year according to statistics from the UK Kennel Club.
