Stan Lee confirms...we will see a Doctor Strange movie. Rumors of black panther and doctor strange film adaptations have been cooking on the interwebs for quite some time now, but in a recent interview with the Savannah College of Art and Design...Stan Lee not only gave credence to those rumors but confirmed there will definitely be a doctor strange movie. This isn't the first time Stan's addressed the possibility of Strange and Panther movies, but now we've graduated from a maybe happening to a definitely happening...at least when it comes to the Sorcerer Supreme.
But Doctor Strange isn't the only property joining the Marvel movie-verse in years to come, Stan Lee said quote "All the hero's will eventually be made into movies" but off the top of his head he mentioned Ant-Man, a preview of which was shown at last years comic con... The Inhumans and Stan also said Marvel is developing a Black Panther film as we speak.
In the interview, Stan opened up about what it's like to executive produce these comic book adaptations...he admitted he has very little control over the final product as EP. In fact, he often doesn't even see the script and his EP duties mainly consist of lunching with the film's actors and director. According to Stan, his cameos are way more involved than any executive producing tasks, and he says the best cameo of all is coming in Ironman 3.
Well we've got the green light from Stan the Man himself for a doctor strange movie, but there's still a lot to sort out...like the actor who will play the master magician on the big screen. Both Marvel executives and Doctor Strange fans have added Viggo Mortensen's name to a list of ideal actors for the role, but Mortensen's involvement has still not been confirmed as of yet. Dozens of directors and writers have also been linked to the property, most recently Guillermo Del Toro. Rumor has it whoever will play Doctor Strange could make a cameo in the upcoming Thor sequel, setting him up for his own standalone film. So now we turn it over to you guys...we'd love to hear your casting and directing picks for the sorcerer supreme's cinematic debut. Keep it locked right here on Clevver Movies for more news on the long awaited Doctor Strange movie. I'm Simone Boyce in Hollywood and thanks for watching!
