Coming up today on Nick's Gaming View, PlayStation creeps further into the realm of digital downloads, Halo 4 holds the record for the largest video game budget from Microsoft, and Minecraft develops Halloween charity program, THIS IS NICK'S GAMING VIEW!

Hello everyone and welcome to Nick's Gaming View, you are here with your host, Nick McCandless. With digital downloads becoming the future of video game distribution as it has for the music industry, Sony's PlayStation division has introduced an all-new program titled, Day 1 Digital. Allowing gamers to download new PlayStation games the day it hits store shelves, Sony is offering additional bonuses to those who download such as XMB themes, credit towards future purchases, and more. PlayStation Plus subscribers will also receive a 10% discount on select titles enriching the deal. Curious as to what games are currently in the que for Day 1 Digital, while the lineup is sure to expand, the current library includes, Resident Evil 6, NBA 2K13, Dishonored, 007 Legends, Doom 3: BFG Edition, Medal of Honor: Warfighter, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, and Assassin's Creed III. Pretty solid lineup if you ask me, and we can only expect more developers and publishers to get on board as the cost of digital distribution is greatly reduced versus that of retail.

Once again making its way onto the show, Halo 4 has achieved another milestone, one that involves the budget of development and overall production and marketing. Phil Spencer, head of Microsoft Game Studios, made it clear that "Nothing's even close" in regards to the budget pumped into the latest Halo release. Phil also stated that the Halo franchise is worth almost $3 billion and is the "most important entertainment product in the company". Having Microsoft invest millions of dollars into the delivery of one of the most successful video game franchises of all time is undoubtedly a no-brainer, it's just sad to not see Sony following in Microsoft's footsteps with their blockbuster releases.

Wrapping up with Microsoft, the Xbox 360 edition of Minecraft will be raising money for charity by offering gamers Halloween-based skins at an incredible price point. Providing 55 Halloween-themed skins at the price of 160 Microsoft Points, equivalent to just $2, fans of Minecraft are in for a treat, especially with the talented teams over at 343 Industries and Rare involved with the development of the skins.
