Indonesians react to militants arrest

One day after Indonesia's special police squad arrested 11 suspected militants, Jakarta residents called for further investigation.

The Detachment 88 squad seized bomb-making equipment and one bomb ready to be used by a new militant group called Harakah Sunni for the Indonesian Society.

(SOUNDBITE) (Bahasa Indonesia) STUDENT, FAREN DIANA, SAYING:

"I hope police will conduct an investigation because terrorism is the most irritating issue for Indonesia."

(SOUNDBITE) (Bahasa Indonesia) TEACHER, SUHARNANTO, SAYING:

"I call on the authorities to conduct a full investigation into the arrests so people don't think that terrorism is Islam."

A police spokesman listed targets as the U.S. consulate in Surabaya, Easy Java, the embassy in Jakarta, Plaza 89, which is in front of the Australian embassy and offices of mining company Freeport.

He gave no further details about the group's identity.

Security was tight outside the U.S. and Australian embassies on Sunday.
