Engineers demolished a 150-meter high chimney in Poland in a carefully planned explosion that one engineer described as "controlled catastrophe": "Nine-hundred cubic meters of reinforced concrete and acid-proof bricks will fall down on the ground. Thus the preparations are really serious. We call it controlled catastrophe. The preparations are very precise and exact." Some 200 explosive charges were placed around the base of the chimney at a power plant in Torun, in Kujawsko-Pomorskie Province.
