This documentary follows Romanies living in impoverished settlements in Slovakia and the transformation processes they face. The film looks at the village of Žehra in the Spišská Nová Ves District of the Košice Region in Slovakia. Director Viliam Poltikovič took his crew here in 1991 to shoot the film "The Resettlement" (Stěhování osady), about the resettlement of Romanies from the slums they inhabited into newly-constructed three-story prefabricated housing blocks. In 2002 he returned to Žehra to pick up the story.
The main motifs include integration into the majority culture, as well as racism, extortion, the population explosion, emigration to England, the influence of the modern Christian church, and the remarkable lives and many adventures of the protagonists in the film.
