    The Pakistani teenager shot by the Taliban for campaigning for girls' education has managed to stand for the first time since the attack.

    Doctors at the Queen Elizabeth II hospital in Birmingham say Malala Yousafzai is improving, but concerns over her health remain.

    Dr Dave Rosser, the hospital's medical director, said Malala "is still showing some signs of infection."
