It's an unfortunate reality that animal abuse occurs all over the world everyday and sometimes it can be downright gruesome and bizarre. Here are 5 such stories:

Number 5 - A 39-year-old man from Washington D.C. was accused of animal cruelty for allegedly brutally declawing two baby kittens. Due to declawing, the kittens' toes were infected, they couldn't walk and they had several broken bones. An official for the Humane Society stated "These kittens literally had their toes cut off without any sort of pain control." Both baby cats had to be euthanized.

Number 4 - Witnesses in Oceanside, California were shocked and horrified to see that someone had tied a turtle to a bunch of balloons and let it go. The balloons got stuck in a tree and a local resident speaks of the turtle stating, "He was just swinging his arms trying to get out of it. Somebody had taped him to the balloons".

Number 3 - In a bizarre case of animal cruelty, a man in Georgia was arrested for beating his wife with her Pomeranian dog after kicking and stomping it to death. Besides the husband, the wife was also arrested, because she didn't cooperate with the police investigation into the matter.

Number 2 - An employee working the night shift at a Shell garage in Peterlee, England came across a sad sight. A five-month-old black kitten, wearing a pink collar, was discovered on the grounds with its mouth intentionally glued shut. The kitty also had glue on its paws. A veterinarian was able to remove the glue without sedation methods and believed the cat was fortunate to have survived.

Number 1 - An elderly man in southern Sweden was seen having sex with a sheep in plain view at a farm. One of the workers on the farm witnessed the act and since this was in an open area, any other passer-bys would have seen it as well. The farm worker who saw the man during the act noticed that he had tied the animal so that there would be no resistance.
