Ana Victoria, daughter of singers Amanda Miguel and Diego Verdaguer, is making a place for herself in the music industry on her own merits, as confirmed by her recent Latin Grammy nomination.

The singer, nominated in the Best New Artist category, is currently promoting her third album, "AV," a fusion of rock and electronic music.

In an interview with Efe, Ana Victoria said that with this disk, which went on sale in April, she's had the chance make her individual style known to a wider audience.

"The album has a strange kind of sound, which on Mexican pop radio might sound odd," the artist said during her trip to Miami.

Because of "that sound," she said, "it's been hard to make a breakthrough," because it doesn't fit into any particular category.

"AV" has 11 numbers, some she composed herself and others the work of her father, such as "Yo No Lloro por Llorar" (I Don't Cry for the Sake of Crying), the first single and one that remained for weeks in the Top POP 10 on Mexican radio.
