Afghans, Indians rally to support wounded school girl

Hundreds of Afghan students rally in support of a Pakistani school girl who was shot by Taliban gunmen last week.

Many held up photos of Malala Yousufzai, the 14-year-old education campaigner who is fighting for her life in hospital.

They also condemend the Taliban ambush, which has sparked outrage across the world.

"Today we have gathered here to support Pakistani girl Malala and condemn this brutal act of the Taliban."

Another rally was held in India, where devotees prayed for Malala's recovery.

The 14-year-old, seen here in 2011, was shot in the head and neck by Taliban gunmen in a restive part of northern Pakistan.

She remains in critical condition.

Malala had angered militants by championing the cause of education for girls.
