Is Justin Bieber taking his "Punk'd" role a little too seriously? We'll explain. I'm Misty Kingma and you are watching ClevverMusic. Today Justin Bieber and Nicki Minaj dropped their new music video for their collab "Beauty and a Beat". You know all the drama surrounding Justin Bieber supposedly having his laptop stolen and the thief threatening to reveal personal details? Well that thief was Justin Bieber. In an elaborate PR stunt Justin premiered his new music video for Nicki Minaj assisted "Beauty and a Beat" track.
In the music video the title card reads "The following footage was illegally uploaded by an annonymous blogger." Revealing that the blogger was Justin himself who directed this music video. In the video various behind-the-scenes shots of Justin are shown in the studio, partying with a handheld camera, and dancing with bikini clad girls and synchronized swimmers. The night time pool party scene is complete with acrobatic dancers, crazy stunts, Justin dancing in a pool and underwater.
Nicki finally enters half way through the video at the end of a black carpet in the water. Nicki sports a pink tutu and feather bikini for her pool scene- that's what you would wear to the pool too, right? It's cute when Nicki raps to Justin and they have super playful chemistry together. The video ends with some more pool dancing and an epic water slide plummet by Justin himself. We can only imagine how fun it must have been for Nicki to have Justin direct her in a video!
So now we have to ask ourselves why such an elaborate Internet hoax was needed for this music video with Nicki? Wouldn't the sight of Nicki and Justin together be enough to garner tons of press? Justin says he's had a lot of stuff said about him and his family so, "today I get to be in on it." Take that Internet, Biebs wins this one. By wasn't Nicki in on it?
