Governor of Sindh Dr Ishrat Ul Ebad Khan laid the foundation stone of the fourth flyover at Teen Hatti, to be constructed at a cost of Rs 175 million. During a four hour long visit, the Governor also inspected development works of over 12 projects in different areas of the city including Aisha Manzil, Waterpump flyover, Banaras flyover and a park at Sakhi Hassan roundabout.
The Governor Sindh said that construction work had begun after lying of foundation stone of four flyovers at Corridor-V which will be completed in next six months. He said that Teen Hatti flyover had been designed in such a way that it would not affect Lyari Expressway.
The Governor Sindh also inspected the construction work of flyovers at Waterpump and Aisha Manzil where Administrator Karachi Muhammad Hussain Syed gave a detailed briefing about the speed of construction work. The Governor of Sindh directed to continue construction of four flyovers non-stop so that these could complete on time.
Afterwards Governor Sindh inspected development work of Gujjar Nala and Orangi Nala where Administrator Karachi informed him that this bridge was being constructed with a cost of Rs 98 million and would complete in next two months.
At Banaras flyover Governor Sindh met with people of the area and listened to their problems.The residents asked him to complete the road. The Governor Sindh also inspected the park which has been constructed near Sakhi Hassan chowrangi while to talking to media representatives he said the empty space alongside major city thoroughfares would be utilized for parks and greenery and construction of this park was also part of this strategy.
Governor Dr. Ishrat Ul Ebad Khan, has said that in the wake of growing population in the metropolis, the implementation on the Karachi Mass Transit System has become essential.
He was of the view that construction of flyovers and overhead bridges as well as roads etc would help ease the flow of traffic in the metropolis.
The people cheered on seeing the Governor in their midst and presented bouquets. On the occasion, Dr. Ebad asked about the welfare of the people.
The Governor later told media persons that the government is endeavouring for the provision of as much facilities to the people as possible. He said that 80 percent of the work on flyover bridge at Banaras Chowk has been completed and that the project would fulfil longstanding demand of the people of the area.
Dr. Ebad also vehemently condemned the attack on Malala Yousufzai and said that this has saddened the entire nation. He was of the view that the nation would have to stand united against terrorists and militants and forge national cohesion.
