A dog owner learns that his dog had to be euthanized following an attack by a seal.
When we look at seals, it's hard to visualize them as ferocious predators. They are not commonly thought of as dangerous.
But don’t tell that to a man who recently lost his beloved dog because of a seal. 21-year-old, Matthew Will had to yank his three-year-old, black Labrador named Fly out of the water, following an attack, where a seal reportedly flung the dog around and pulled it underwater. Fly had to be euthanized following the attack due to severe injuries including the loss of an eye, crushed back legs and a caved in rib cage. Will wishes to alert visitors of seal dangers and states that he has experienced “anguish and horror”.
Several years ago, another seal was accused of a horrific act. A West Vancouver father claimed that the sea creature jumped on a marina dock and grabbed his five-year-old daughter, taking her in the water. She survived, but was angry the seal didn’t ask first if she wanted to go for a swim.
