A politician in Brazil reportedly hands cocaine with campaign leaflets.

In their efforts to gain votes, some politicians will offer certain subtle favors.

However, one candidate in Brazil went for a different, albeit illegal approach. A 32-year-old female politician was arrested after police allegedly witnessed a large crowd of people outside of the woman’s car and when officers searched the vehicle, they found hundreds of cocaine packets. The small baggies were attached to the woman’s campaign leaflets along with directions on how to vote for her.

A police official stated “According to locals, she had been distributing the drugs since early in the morning, on the condition that people vote for her.”

In 2010, another politician utilized cocaine to help with his election. The 52-year-old Nigerian man was labeled as a hopeful candidate, but he was arrested in an airport, after a scanning machine showed nearly 5 pounds of cocaine was in his stomach. The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency stated “Preliminary check on him revealed that he was preparing himself financially for the forthcoming election into the Edo State House of Assembly.”
