The 2012 BET Hip Hop Awards aired on TV last night and the most touching moment was a nostalgic tribute to Chris Lighty featuring your favorite hip hop moguls. What's up I'm Misty Kingma for ClevverMusic. The BET Hip Hop awards paid tribute to the late Chris Lighty, a visionary talent manager to many hip hop stars like LL Cool J. The tribute performance featured a rare unity among many rappers- something you don't see all the time.

The tribute was kicked off by LL Cool J who gave a touching speech ending with, "Without Chris Lighty there wouldn't be music like this." This cued A Tribe Called Quest who performed "Awards Tour" followed by Busta Rhymes singing "But Your Hands Where My Eyes Can See" with images of Chris flashing on the screen behind him.

But that's not all- Fat Joe came out to perform crowd favorite song "Lean Back" followed by Missy Elliott with "Get Your Freak On". Many of the performers sported black jackets with large red "V"'s on them for Chris' management company "Violator Entertainment".

Nope the tribute isn't done yet. 50 Cent comes out for "I Get Money". This performance officially ended the feud between 50 Cent and Fat Joe, who shook hands at the end of the tribute. Nice to see hip hop getting along, eh? Let us know who you think stole the tribute- was it Missy? Be sure to "Like" ClevverMusic on Facebook for all your music news see you next time.
