The film is produced by Karan Johar and Shahrukh Khan under the banner of Dharma Productions, IBC Motion Pictures, Walker Family Pictures and Red Chillies Entertainment. The film is to be released on 19 October 2012. Karan Johar said The contest is an extension of the film where youngsters will compete against each other to win a chance to meet the film's star cast.
